Details:
This
jacket is so extremely rare! It is rare to find a piece of such esteem offered
to the open market. This jacket dates to the 1820’s and is truly a piece owned
by the dapper dandy of the day.
The jacket is
made of a fine white cotton which has a darker pin striping throughout. The
pattern is greatly faded with age and the truest color is evident only beneath
its arms. Needless to say, the jacket is completely hand stitched throughout and
is double breasted in fashion and is able to close both ways. Ornate gold
buttons enclose its front and each is embossed on its rear reading Extra Colour.
The collar of the jacket stands high and full in its rear with a V split in each
lapel.
The interior front as well as a band running across the top back is fully
reinforced with self fabric. Hand written in the lining reads the name of the
owner Geo A Robinson. Each cuff of the arms is trimmed with similar but
different gold buttons, which are star in pattern and read Rich Corange, one of
which is missing. The seams of the cuffs and arms at the elbow show minor fray
with a fingertip of hole of wear on the right elbow. A small yellow stain area
is on the right hip but the condition is otherwise excellent. One button on its
front has been replaced and another button which falls beneath the lapel is
absent.
Measures 40
inches around its chest, 34 inches around its waist, 17 ½ inches across its
shoulders, and 17 inches in its length. Truly a piece of distinction, certain to
be the highlight of a collection
