Details: This gown dates to the early 1940's and is
fashioned of a fine black crepe fabric with the sleeves cut to rise over the
shoulder cutting into the underarm. A
steel zipper encloses at its side and a removable clip is attached at the V
neckline, it could use a spot of glue and one additional rhinestone.
Two
pinhead holes are seen on the front of the right shoulder but they are easily
stitched to unseen and a half inch open seam in the skirting is in need of a
stitch.
There
is a mild surface scuff, I believe it is dust at a small point beneath the waist
and several points on the hem as it has been in estate storage, but none the
less, a wonderful and most dramatic early 1940's gown, wear it with a full
underlay for a more dramatic effect as the bottom sweep measures a full 210
inches around, the small surface points are unseen due to the massive volume.
The piece is large in size, measuring 44/36 with 58 inches in its length.
