Details:
This piece dates to the Edwardian era and is a must have
not only for its condition but for its unique styling.
The piece is fashioned of a natural hue silk shantung and the piece
drapes the body through the rear with a collar enveloping the shoulder
snugly with heavy ruching at the rear neckline and triple pleats at the
front of the collar.
The collar falls with tails in its front with slits at
the side to provide arm openings with deep pockets on either side of the
front having triple large button enclosures through self piped button
holes. The label pictured is
stitched on the inner neckline with a penned name just above.
The
condition is excellent with the only flaw being to the grape silk which
lines either side of the inner cape in five foot bands, it could be easily
removed.
The piece measures 45 inches in length down its rear, it
is hard to judge the sizing of this piece as it is free flowing, it is
universal in its sizing but if you want the collar to cap the shoulders
the wearer should be a size 12 or under but it fits comfortable on even a
very large wearer.
