Details:
Such a piece of couture! This
dress dates to the 1930’s and is made of a dove gray jersey material. The top
of the dress has enclosed bands beneath each arm, with the fabric ruched over
the top. Wide bands of gold lame with sequins strap its top, and each strap
measures an inch in width.
When turned over, netting backs
each band and snaps with tabs are at three points on each band to hold the strap
of a slip in place if the slip is desired to be worn.
A steel zipper is enclosed at one side and a self covered belt backed in
gray leather wraps the waist. The
dress comes with its matching jacket, which is also trimmed in the lame, and the
interior of the jacket as well as the top of the dress is lined in a matching
dove gray silk crepe.
The Bergdorf Goodman label is
enclosed in the jacket. The jacket
has one pinhead sized hole, which I have pictured that is just aside of the gold
lame on the right bust. Several
pinhead holes are in the sweep of the dress, just above the bottom hem but are
localized to one three inch area and I simply would give a stitch to hide.
One of the shoulder bands at the top needs the netting and sequins seamed
two inches in length. None the less,
a truly excellent ensemble.
Measures 36/30/42, 54 inches in
its length, and a bottom sweep measuring 72 inches around with the jacket
measuring 15 inches in its length.
